Planes. Who doesn’t like planes? The film Planes is a spin-off from Cars and produced by DisneyToon Studios, according to Wikipedia. My first thought before watching this movie was like “cool, I hope they do have some characters from Cars alongside with the current one in the movie”. Unfortunately, that didn’t happened.. The story plot is similar to the movie Turbo. Well, I said similar, not the same. So, it have some of its own magic. Let’s begin.

Dusty Crophopper (Dane Cook) is a cropduster plane who dream to enter Wings Across The World race. He is afraid of height and training alongside his buddy, Chug (Brad Garrett), Skipper (Stacy Keach) and his forklift friend, Dottie (Teri Hatcher). Dusty enters qualifier for the race, although he was mocked, he managed to get 6th place. Out of 10. And he competed with the best racers. Take that!! Later, a representative from the race, told him that he managed to qualify for the race as the 5th place owner cheated and DQ.

Arrived at the race location, he made friends with El Chupacabra (Carlos Alazraqui) and he have a crush on Ishani (Priyanka Chopra). He realized that Ripslinger (Roger Craig Smith) looked down on him and Dusty want to prove that wrong. And the race begins.

Guided by Skipper, Dusty fly off to the wind.. haha.. XD the first leg, he finished last because he’s flying low. Second leg, Dusty shows off a good sportsmanship by helping a British race plane, Bulldog. Third leg, The third leg is to an air base at Agra in India while the fourth leg is over Nepal. Ishani gives advice to Dusty to take the railway road as he cannot fly high. That advice almost cost him his life as he was about to have a head-on collision with a train. Miraculously, he finishes first. Yup, that part left me with some questions. The fifth leg is over the Hump (the mountains between northeast India and south China) to Shanghai, where Dusty gets into first place again. After that, Dusty helps his compadre, El Chupacabra win his crush, Rochelle. That went well, or shall I say, too well.

The six leg, Dusty was ambushed by Ripslinger’s people, costing him to lost his GPS navigation and almost, his life. Luckily, two jet fighters were there to helps him and they landed on USS “Flysinhower” to be repaired and refuel. There, he learned about Skipper’s joint, Jolly Wrenches.  Dusty demand answer from Skipper and he, admit it. Skipper only fly 1 mission because a whole squadron, led by him died while recon for the enemies. After that, Skipper never again fly.

The Final leg,a race back to New York, Dusty settle the final score with Ripslinger. At the camera off  side location, Ripslinger and the crew attacked Dusty. Skipper comes and save him, teamed up to beat Ripslinger. Near the finish line, Dusty finally took the courage to fly high, and beat Ripslinger while he was facing the cameras. That a dusty blow to Ripslinger. Haha.. XD.. the underdog wins and the film ended with Skippy and Dusty races back home.

In my own words, I say the movie is quite nice and neat. What took my attention is the character’s development and the environment in it. Yeah, the plot is old, I agree with that. I enjoyed the movie but I hope the next movie would be more fresh in term of idea. Oh, the comedy is not that bad. I laughed many times.. haha.. see ya XDXD
